
“Nikola Rakitin 1890” Community culture centre was founded in 1890 under the name “Izvor”. In 1971 it was renamed on the name of Nikola Vassilev Rakitin – a poet, born in the village of Trudovets. In 1970, the new building was built with a contractor, the General direction of Construction Troops – Botevgrad division. The construction and furnishing were finally completed in 1977 and it was inaugurated on 16.12.1977 by the Chairman of the State Council – Todor Zhivkov. The new acquisition is a real cultural palace for its time, a three-storey building, located on a 1569 sq. m area in the centre of the village.
The library of the Community culture centre has 23,726 volumes of literature, specialized in adults’ departments, children’s department, “Art” department, bookstore, borrowing hall, with an area of 408 sq.m.
The library has four computer configurations, a projector, a printer-equipped under “Global Libraries” program.
In the Community culture centre are currently active – a preparatory group of 31 children for folklore dances – up to 13 years old, a children’s dance ensemble with 18 students aged 13 to 15, a dance ensemble “Zhar” with 14 dancers, a club round dance “Varvari” with participants, Sport Dance Club with 10 children.
The Community culture centre is also an organizer of festive calendar celebrations.
The amateurs have awards from National and International festivals – Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Troyan, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Macedonia, Turkey, Albania.
The Youth Club “People for People” was established at the Community culture centre in 2013 for participation in youth activities projects.
Under the guidance of Mrs Maya Arnaudova who is the coordinator of the projects as well, the Community culture centre has won “Erasmus +” – Youth activities, youth exchange with Northern Ireland, partners in a number of youth projects in Serbia, Latvia, Italy, Slovenia, Romania, and others. This year our partnership activity continues, as well as the participation in project proposals for a number of programs.
On 09.06.2018 during the Rakitin’s Feasts, we set the beginning of the First Folklore Festival of Clubs for round dances, folklore dances and dance ensembles “Golden threads”. The festival is of a competitive nature.
